Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to this marketing website and, where applicable, the hosted QRowl application operated by QRowl (“QRowl”, “we”, “us”).
By creating an account or using the hosted service, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you use QRowl for an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization and that you are at least 16 years old.
These Terms are a practical baseline for how QRowl works. They are not a substitute for advice from your lawyer.
1. The service
QRowl helps organizations manage product information, branded public product pages, QR codes, optional GS1 Digital Link URLs (when GTINs are supplied), batch and unit codes, scan activity summaries, team roles, and related publishing tools. Features available to you depend on your plan, entitlements, and deployment (hosted vs self-hosted).
Self-hosted deployments are licensed and operated under the documentation and license terms that accompany that software, plus any separate agreement you have with us. These Terms focus on the marketing site and hosted service unless we say otherwise.
2. Accounts
- Provide accurate registration information and keep it updated.
- Use a permanent email you control. Temporary or disposable inboxes, and “+” email aliases, are not allowed for registration.
- Keep credentials confidential and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
- You must verify your email before using the product catalog and publishing tools, where the hosted service requires verification.
- You must accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy when you create a workspace.
3. Workspaces and roles
Hosted customers use workspaces (organizations) with roles such as owner, admin, editor, or viewer. Owners and admins are responsible for inviting members, managing permissions, and the content published from that workspace.
4. Your content
You retain rights to the product, brand, and other content you submit (“Customer Content”). You grant us a limited license to host, process, display, and transmit Customer Content solely to operate QRowl for you, including public pages you publish and scan resolution for your codes.
You are responsible for Customer Content, including that it is accurate, lawful, and that you have rights to use any trademarks, images, personal data, GTINs, and other identifiers you enter.
5. GS1 and identifiers
QRowl does not sell GS1 memberships, company prefixes, or GTINs. Digital Link features use identifiers you provide. Changing a GTIN, lot, expiry, or serial changes the corresponding Digital Link path. Stable QRowl product URLs (`/p/…`) are separate from Digital Link paths.
6. Public pages and scanning
Published pages and codes may be reachable by anyone with the link or a scanned QR. Custom domains, where enabled, can open public pages; printed QR and Digital Link payloads use the QRowl platform host. Scan activity provides operational context only and does not prove physical authenticity.
7. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Break the law or infringe others’ rights
- Attempt unauthorized access, disrupt the service, or probe it beyond ordinary use
- Upload malware or harmful content
- Use QRowl to misrepresent products, recall status, or authenticity
- Resell or provide the hosted service to third parties except as allowed by your plan or a written agreement
- Abuse registration, invitations, or email systems
8. Plans, availability, and changes
Hosted plans, limits, and features may change. We aim for reasonable availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify or discontinue features with notice when practical. Pre-release or local demo features are provided as-is.
Paid hosted plans may start with a trial as shown at signup. If you do not complete checkout, or if a paid subscription later ends, the workspace continues on the Free hosted plan then in effect, subject to those limits. Free does not use Polar checkout.
9. Fees
If you purchase a paid plan, fees, billing periods, taxes, and any refund terms are as described at checkout or in a separate order form. Paid checkout is handled by Polar. Unpaid amounts may lead to suspension.
10. Disclaimers
Except where the law says otherwise, the marketing site and hosted service are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that Digital Link usage alone makes you GS1-compliant for every market or trading partner.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, QRowl and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-profit damages, or for loss of data, goodwill, or business interruption, arising from your use of QRowl. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the hosted service is limited to the fees you paid us for that service in the three months before the claim (or, if none, USD 100).
Some places do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum allowed.
12. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from Customer Content, your use of identifiers you are not authorized to use, or your breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach, risk to the service or others, non-payment, or legal requirements. After termination, we may delete workspace data according to our retention practices, subject to backups and legal holds.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator of this service is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless a mandatory local law says otherwise.
15. Cookies
We use cookies needed to run the hosted service, as described on the Cookies page. We do not use advertising trackers.
16. Changes
We may update these Terms. The effective date will change when we do. If a change is material, we will provide reasonable notice through the site or email when practical. Continued use of the hosted service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
